Eli Cohen Real Estate introduced a developer to a unique demographic opportunity for a 350,000 SF retail power center in Bayonne, New Jersey. It became the only mall project in the state of New Jersey to break ground in 2009.

Trained as an economic geographer, Eli Cohen saw that Bayonne had unique demographics. Located on a peninsula with no big box facilities, its residents were spending their time and dollars shopping out of town. The city of Bayonne was losing revenue, and its residents were inconvenienced.

Eli understood the need to offer the people of Bayonne a retail power center. He introduced a developer to the area, and as a result, in 2009 the first shovel went into the ground. It was the only mall project in the state of New Jersey to start in 2009. The 350,000 SF Bayonne Crossing Power Center became a reality, with Walmart and Lowes as its anchor tenants.

As a result of Eli Cohen Real Estate’s geographic perspective, the city of Bayonne has gained nine hundred permanent jobs and even more very happy residents.
